Baltic countries highly ranked in the World Bank’s Doing Business report

The highest-ranked country among the three Baltic states is Estonia at 17th place, same place as in last year. Latvia is ranked 24th and Lithuania 23rd, both improved ranking 3 places.

Lithuania implemented five reforms aimed at making it easier to do business more than any other country. The reforms were in starting a business, paying taxes, getting credit, trading across borders and closing a business. In the Doing Business 2011 report, Lithuania moved up 12 places for ease of starting a business, 5 places for ease of dealing with construction permits and 7 places for ease of paying taxes.

Latvia implemented two reforms and improved ranking for the ease of registering property (4 places) and for the ease of closing a business (9 places).

Estonia implemented three reforms and improved ranking for the ease of getting credit (12 places).
