Student Camp 2008 in Saaremaa

From 26 to 29 June 2008, a camp meant for students – Student Camp 2008 – was held in Saaremaa, Johan Spa Hotel. The camp was organised by Tark & Co in collaboration with its best Scandinavian and Baltic partner firms.

Besides those from Tark & Co, top specialists from the following law firms attended the camp:
· Hannes Snellman - Finland's biggest law firm;
· Mannheimer Swartling - Sweden's biggest law firm;
· Loze, Grunte & Cers - Latvia's biggest law firm;
· Sutkiene, Pilkauskas & Partners - one of Lithuania's most successful law firms.

From each country, a partner and an attorney of one law firm participated who, in turn, chose the students from their respective country to participate in the event. Altogether 23 students attended the camp. From Tark & Co, the partner Risto Vahimets and attorney-at-law Rolan Jankelevitsh participated. As for students, the participants were Mikk Läänemets and Kirsti Pent, and Tanel Tark, Andreas Veeret and Hannes Küün, all of whom are working part-time as lawyers at Tark & Co during their studies.

During the Student Camp, the students listened to a presentation given by a partner from each participating law firm, followed by a discussion of an M&A case. First and foremost practical tips were given by top international experts in the respective field and issues of business law that a lawyer has to confront on a daily basis were discussed.

Student Camp offered the students a great chance to get acquainted with the daily operation of law firms and a good opportunity for practical discussion. In addition, students and representatives of law firms were able to meet each other eye to eye and to get to know each other both during the lectures and leisure time between the lectures.

The Student Camp was such a success that we hope to make it a tradition - Student Camp 2009 will be held in Finland and will be organised by Hannes Snellman.
