TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE represented the buyer Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. in acquiring the controlling interest in AB Sanitas – the largest transaction in Lithuania this year.

TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE represented Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. in signing the agreement on the acquisition of 87.2% of the outstanding shares in Sanitas, a specialty pharmaceuticals company. The transaction value is expected to be approximately EUR 365 million. In recent years it is the largest transaction not only in Lithuania but probably in the Baltics.
TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE lawyers, led by partner Marius Matonis and senior associate Deimantė Korsakaitė, counselled Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. on Lithuanian law matters related to the acquisition of the shares in Sanitas, including the issues pertaining to competition and regulated markets.
Sanitas as a major pharmaceuticals company in Lithuania has a broad branded generics product portfolio consisting of 390 products in nine countries throughout Central and Eastern Europe. The shares of the company were admitted to trading on the Main List of AB NASDAQ OMX Vilnius. The company’s annual revenues totalled almost EUR 100 million in 2010.
