Our lawyers have been acknowledged as leading experts in competition law across the Baltic States and beyond. Our team has vast experience in advising clients in all aspects of competition law, incl. anti-trust (anti-competitive horizontal or vertical agreements and abuse of dominance) as well as merger control and state aid. The team is regularly retained by alleged offenders as their counsel in cartel or dominance investigations as well as by alleged offenders, injured parties or competition authorities in anti-trust litigation. We regularly advise clients on anti-trust and merger control issues while acting for them in actual or planned transactions or operations. As a general and day-to-day competition law counsel for a number of major local, regional or international players we continuously conduct competition law training and compliance meetings as well as design and update competition compliance programmes and manuals to raise our client's ability to identify and address competition risks. Recent trainings have included substantial and practical aspects of dawn-raids, leniency and distribution agreements.
Anti-trust litigation is a particular strength of the Lithuanian team where Dr. Lina Darulienė has acted for clients, incl. Lithuanian Competition Authority, in more than 50 court cases involving both challenging and defending the decisions of the authority as well as acting for the claimants or defendants in private anti-trust actions. Estonian and Latvian teams have historically been at their best in transactional matters - the Estonian team was involved in about 3/5 of merger filings handled by the Estonian authority from September 2009 until August 2010, advising either the notifying parties, parties renouncing control or the target - but lately they’ve been involved in a number of landmark anti-trust cases, incl. the Estonian team acting for AS Liviko against an allegation of price-fixing.
